The Sphere (La Sphère) served as the central scenographic element for the opera production “Le Messie du peuple chauve” at the Opéra Grand Avignon. Developed in collaboration with renowned Romanian scenographer Adrian Damian, the project was designed to be an imposing, versatile light object that could redefine the stage environment through geometry and illumination.

The installation is a large-scale rhombicosidodecahedron with a diameter of 3.3 meters with aluminium edges and an inside layer of controllable lights made of 60 lamps. Engineered specifically for touring and repertoire theater, the entire structure was built to be easily decommissioned and reassembled for future performances.

Beyond its physical presence, The Sphere functioned as a dynamic storyteller. The generative visual content transformed the object into various metaphorical shapes throughout the play, moving from a cold, celestial body to an intimate, pulsing core.

The project represents a seamless integration of traditional scenography and new media technology, specifically designed for a stage as prestigious as the Opéra Grand in Avignon.
